Return to the Basics of Business!

The Super Bowl is just around the corner. We'll find out in a few days if the Denver Broncos or the Carolina Panthers are the best football team. It will come down to the game and who plays a better game after all of the hype, promotion, and glitz of Super Bowl week. The most successful coaches are doing one thing right now: getting back to basics. This week, I'm sure Cam Newton and Peyton Manning are tossing ball after ball to keep their skills fresh. They are reviewing the playbook and rehearsing fundamental plays with the rest of the team. The squad who has the most plays down will be the one to win.

We all believe there is a magical pill or potion that will make us wealthy and give us an advantage in business. That is not the case. One thing we must do is return to basic business principles. It can be tedious to return to business basics. Success is tedious. It repeats the same actions over and over. If you work hard enough, you will succeed.

In a residual income business, going back to business principles means mastering the art of prospecting. That means you'll have to prospect a lot for a time before your business takes off. Only then can you ease off on the gas a little. Prospecting's principles revolve upon the 3X30X5 idea. It entails prospecting for three hours every day, five days per week. Let's face it, if you don't have 15 hours per week to devote to your business, you aren't taking it seriously. After that, you make 30 calls per hour. Depending on how many people you get on the phone, you should be able to make that many. The final step is to get five people to commit to your presentation each day. That means you give your business plan or presentation to a total of 25 individuals every week.

Here's the deal: people will not buy from you until they are aware that you exist and that they may purchase from you. That's the way things are. There is no such thing as a "miracle person" who will take your company to the top. They aren't real. You will not be able to sustain your business if you just present your product or service to one person per month. Prospecting is one of the business foundations that you must learn in order to generate a significant amount of residual income. Return to the principles of business and you will succeed.
